thanks i need it i think. i spent a couple of hours today cleaning up the chassis and seeing what it needs, it needs one bulkhead outrigger as its been patched up before and gone again and the other isnt great so think i will do the pair. there is also abit at the back of the chassis that has been repaired and needs doing again, i thing a whole new rear x member it the way to go this is where the bulkhead outrigger is gone and its been patched here not very well this is the rear end the front looks good

have you considered a galvanised chassis? i would love to but looking best part of a grand for one and im getting married this year so not got that sort of money to spend on it, i can get this chassis to a good state where it will last a good few years. there is a good chance i might have it shot blasted and painted

Good luck with that mate. A mate of mine says there is a place in Yarmouth that can galvanise a chassis for a fraction of the cost of a done one. I'll ask him if he has the name or number for them if you want. It would be a shame not to if you gonna do all that work to the old gal.

i think its near hopton, i could be wrong,. i cant decide if i want it galvanised or not, dont want it to look galvanised and when done can be hard to get paint to stick to it well. i might just get it blasted and painted then waxoil it, still not sure

Galvanise it, then use some mordant (i think) solution this will prep the surface for paint, prime and paint and job done. Amazing how things fit into place

will be interesting to see it done.
I have got a 1965 series 2a which i have been rebuilding for the last 8 or 10 years (started it when i was at school) and i am now 23 and it still isn't finished lol.
so far i have put a new galv chassis on her a new bulkhead new springs and shocks new wiring, I am keeping it all original apart from one thing i have fitted a alternator and better lights. i made the mistake in getting all body work shot blasted which knocked all the filler out of the wings (not rot looked like some1 had shot it lol) then had a lot of work with fiberglass and filler. It has now had 6 coats of acid etch and 1 top coat so far (as far as i got 2 years ago then th weather turned and haven't had chance to get it out again) i also got 2 new alloy door tops as mine were rusted away, i have got all the bits just got to put it back together.
Planed completion date......... LAST YEAR (was gonna be finished for the series 2club thing at fakenham race course)
