When i go to start the engine, i get nothing except a fairly high pitched whirring sound. Was doing this last week too but on 2nd try it would start straight away, now nothing. Anyone know what this could be and how much to get it fixed as it is currently stuck in swainsthorpe 25 miles away from home :@

Have you got power to the ignition? lights on the dash etc. If so it could be the starter motor spinning but not engaging. If it is this it's dead east to fix, just take off starter motor clean off any crap that's stopping it from moving grease and stick back on.
HANG ON A MO' Just a thought, before you do that check the wiring to the starter, a dodgy earth connection could do the same and that's even easier to fix.

cheers can i literally unbolt it? have next to no mechanical knowledge. How much would it cost for a garage to do it for me or would they wanna replace the whole thing?
This only happened since i went through a flood maybe a bit too fast.

find the starter motor and check all the connections first (undo them one by one and clean the contacts) this is quite likely if it's starts sometimes, if that doesn't work read this thread www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/discovery-wont-start-89793.html landies are pretty easy to work on and you'll only learn by having a go, I'm only learning myself.
