FS: 1982 Classic Range Rover - Rare "In Vogue" 3-speed Automatic - Norfolk, UK
Very Rare 1982 In Vogue Range Rover Classic 5 door Automatic. One of the first automatics, with the hugely strong 3-speed Chrysler TorqueFlite gearbox.
Good Bits:-
One of the very rare original "In Vogue" high spec models, two years before Land-Rover launched the just plain "Vogue" model, Sorry but it doesn't have the original picnic basket or cool-box :-)
HUGELY strong Chrysler TorqueFlite 272 3-speed gearbox, so ideal if you want to drop a much more powerful engine in such as a 6.2 V8 diesel a 5.7 Chevy V8, this is the gearbox you want. Americans muscle cars regally take 500hp through a Chrysler
Torqueflite 727 gearbox, so there are a shed load of US aftermarket custom options for this gearbox.
3.5L carb V8
The new chassis was fitted by the previous owner.
Comes with unfitted side-steps/running boards.
Front and rear slat light stone guards
Front vertical slat grill replaced with more effluent horizontal slats.
Still has the sloping back lockable centre cubby box and teak wood top trim door panels that were unique to this model.
Ideal for either restoration as a rare model (when was the last time you saw an original "In Vogue"?) or for a monster engine conversion, or both!
Bad Bits:-
Rust in some of the usual Range-Rover places, such as the rear lower tailgate, the outer sill needs a patch, the headlining is a bit droopy at back (lining is coming away from the backing, they all do this eventually), the (non-original) sunroof door needs vinyl replacing. The tyres need replacing, the spare is on a steel Disco rim and the battery is flat. The interior, whilst complete and fully functional, could do with a clean. Generally sound but tatty, it is dirty rather than broken or missing.
Ran fine and had regular maintenance and fluid changes before I took it off the road, has been standing, so no tax of MOT obviously.
Reason I'm selling, is simply that since I've become disabled, I can't look after myself, let alone do what needs to be done, and I want to see this old girl get the use she disserves, instead of just sitting on my drive way and slowly deteriorating. I have to face up to the sad fact my life will now never include doing Land-Rover things :-(
Please don't make me take the 30 pieces of silver from the scrap man :-(
It would be a shame to see this rare Range-Rover be torn apart in a scrap yard.
Located on Norfolk/Suffolk boarder.
