As you all know, I have the worst luck with cars. My cam belt snapped and 8 valves were bent, I replaced these 8, and re-lapped the 8 old ones aswell. I rebuilt the engine yesterday, started her up and now she vibrates badly, at idle, and wont go above 2000 rpm to start with. Any ideas what it could be? Please help me!!

Only go on one way. I am going to drain the tappets, refit them, and the camshaft and try again. Dont you just love vauxhall?

Hi mate. I dont know if this is any help, I had a vauxhall a few years back, with hydraulic tappets, after a head rebuild it ran very badly for some time until the tappets were fully pressurized. A mechanic mate of mine said i should of kept the tappets in a bucket of oil while i rebuilt the head so the oil didn't drain out of them. I am feeling your pain as my cambelt snapped sunday afternoon and bent my pushrods. HAPPY DAYS

Just been outside, difficult to work in the dark, and redone the timing. I am just about there, I think I may be 1 tooth out now. |Running 50 times better than it did, should be driving again tomorrow evening! All I need now is some luck for an interview!! Thanks for all your help, and it may be coming back of e-bay tomorrow if it works!

I am feeling your pain as my cambelt snapped sunday afternoon and bent my pushrods. HAPPY DAYS mine broke not long ago and was well impressed with the design of the 200tdi that meant i didn have to remove the head, had it all done the same day, got parts from gsf, push rods where less than £3 each
